Entrants over the age of six who have been in a high-incidence area or in a virus variant area in the last 10 days before entering Germany must carry proof of testing for an infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and submit this to the competent authorities upon request and, if necessary, to the transport company before the start of the journey.

In any case, the test must not have been carried out more than 48 hours before entry (time of the test). Egypt has been classified as a high incidence area since January 24th, 2021. A negative PCR test must already be presented at the check-in at Hurghada or Marsa Alam airport, regardless of whether a direct flight to Germany, Switzerland or via Istanbul.

The best, uncomplicated and cheapest method for the PCR test is directly in one of the two laboratories in Hurghada, costs 30.00 USD for tourists, test results within 24 hours.

Guests with proof of accommodation in El Gouna can be tested at El Gouna Hospital for a cost of USD 40.00.

Soma Bay guests can get tested in Soma Bay. The Hotel The Breakers, for example, tests its guests for EUR 55.00 per person.

In the south of Egypt, the Tulip offers the test for 70.00 EUR, the Concorde Moreen between 60 and 100.00 USD and the Wadi Lahmy Azur between 50 and 70.00 EUR, depending on the participant. All results also within 24 hours.

New from the end of February a new laboratory in Safaga, costs for the PCR test 30.00 USD and the result is usually available within 12 hours.
