Diving courses are offered by two large training organisations SSI and CMAS. The range of courses includes taster sessions right up to professional entry level. All diving centres offer courses in various languages and also always in German.
Scuba Schools International (SSI) is a worldwide operating and certifying commercial training organization for divers.
CMAS: International governing body for scuba divers. The German Diving association VDST is a member of CMAS. The training levels range from one up to three stars, the VDST-equivalent is bronze, silver and gold.

SSI Scuba Ranger and Explorer
Can children learn to dive? Yes, there are special SSI programmes for children from the age of eight. There is special, child-friendly equipment and the maximum depth is two meters.

Content and process: A short theory lesson - explanation of the equipment, 1 dive in confined open water

Basic Diver
The preliminary stage to becoming a licenced diver. The course allows you to dive in the company of a diving instructor within a limited scope.
Duration: 10-12 hours
Content and process: Day 1: Swim test, confined water dives, theory, review questions (quiz)
Day 2: Dives in confined water, open water dives on the house reef, theory, working through the review questions (quiz), final exam & certification

Scuba Diver
Using online learning, confined and open water dives, the Scuba Diver program is a perfect foundation to become a confident and safe diver. You will learn all you need to scuba dive in open water up to 12 meters deep with an Professional.

Content and process: Three academic sessions, two pool/confinend water sessions, two openwater sessions

Open Water Diver (SSI)
This globally recognized certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventures as a certified scuba diver. Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. You will earn the SSI Open Water Diver certification.
Duration: 4 days
Content and process: The course comprises 4 confined water dives and 4 open water dives, which will be planned by your instructor together with you and then carried out with him by your side. Our motto is ‘learning by doing’: we hold theory sessions in our well-air-conditioned classroom, but spend as much time as possible in the water. The confined water training takes place in the nearby pool. We start with a few exercises in chest-deep water. Once these exercises are complete, we can dive straight to the colourful coral formations of our house reef.

Enriched Air Nitrox
As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, plus shorten your surface intervals - so you can spend more time diving and less time waiting!
Duration: 3-6 hours
Content and process: One theory module, one dive planning module with explanation of how to calculate oxygen exposure (Level 2 only).

Advanced Open Water Diver
A practical course without exam which requires you to tackle five different diving challenges.
Duration: 10-15 hours
Content and process: During the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you will try out 5 different specialties. You will complete one open water training dive per specialty after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor.
Prerequisites: At least 10 years old, SSI OWD or equivalent

Extended Range Nitrox
The SSI Extended Range Nitrox program provides a thorough introduction to the concepts, techniques, and procedures required for decompression diving with nitrox. Designed as either a stand-alone program or a stepping-stone to become an SSI Extended Range Trimix diver, this enriched air diving program provides foundational skills that are the basis for all future technical programs.
Duration: 16 hours
Content and process: 4 Academic Sessions, 1 Pool/Confined Water Sessions, 4 Open Water Sessions
Prerequisites: Deep Diving certification, Enriched Air Nitrox 40 certification, Minimum 24 logged dives, Recreational Sidemount Diving certification
IANTD Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver
The purpose of this programme is to qualify divers to dive to 45 m and perform the required decompression stops.
Duration: 3 days
Content and process: 5 hours theory (approx.), 1 beach day, 4 open water dives (2 with Trimix), Handling runtime table and stage.
Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water Diver, Nitrox Diver, Deep Diver, at least 30 logged dives, medical clearance (max. 1 year old).

ORCA Dive Clubs wants to spread the rebreather idea further with its Rebreather-Academy in Soma Bay. This location does not only have two trainers on site, who can teach every diver the handling of the rebreather according to IART/IANTD standards from user to instructor. Rebreather Training
Rebreather are arriving on recreational scuba diving and us it is anxious to make you getting into the world of bubble-free diving as easy as possible.

Evolution / Inspiration
A very sophisticated unit, which is proved since years in day to day diving activities . It is an extremely versatile device that is suitable for beginners in recreational diving as well as for ambitious advanced divers who want to perform also decompression dives with mixed gases.
Duration: 5 days
Content and process: During this 5 day programme you will be educated in all aspects of correct operation of your rebreather. This will include 1 confined water session and a min. of 8 open water dives where you will repeat and learn new skills for rebreather survival under the direct supervision of your instructor. On satisfactory completion of training you will be able to dive to a max. depth of 42m when using air as a diluent and 48m when using trimix as a diluent with a max. decompression time of 15min.
